The Doc10 film festival is set to open its 10th anniversary edition on April 30. This year's festival features a documentary called “Move Ya Body: The Birth of House Music.” It tells the story of Chicago's house music scene, starting from the Disco Demolition night at Comiskey Park. The festival will run until May 4, showing most films at Lincoln Square’s Davis Theater. In addition to the opening film, there will be ten more documentaries. These include “Antidote,” which highlights a journalist’s dangerous experiences reporting on Russian politics. Another notable film is “2000 Meters To Andriivka,” depicting a Ukrainian platoon on a risky mission to liberate a village under siege. The festival is organized by Anthony Kaufman, a film journalist and co-creator of Doc10. It is supported by the Chicago Media Project, a nonprofit group focused on social issues. Kaufman emphasized the importance of the festival as a safe space for sharing true stories, especially as democratic values come under pressure. Several films in this year's lineup premiered earlier at the Sundance Film Festival. More details about the festival schedule and ticket purchases are available on Doc10's website.
