DJ Burns becomes star player in South Korea
DJ Burns, a standout player from NC State, has become a popular figure in basketball. The 6-foot-9, 275-pound athlete gained fame during the 2024 NCAA Tournament, where he led his team on a remarkable journey. NC State won the ACC tournament and made it to the Final Four, creating a “Cinderella story” for the school. Burns had an impressive college career, graduating from York Prep Academy in South Carolina before playing for the Winthrop Eagles. After three years there, he joined NC State and quickly made an impact. He was named the Most Outstanding Player in the South Region of the NCAA tournament and helped NC State beat Duke in the Elite Eight with a standout performance. Despite going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, Burns caught the eyes of many, including NBA star Nikola Jokic, who praised his skills. NFL scouts also took notice of Burns’ size and agility, considering him as a potential football player. However, he chose to continue his basketball journey. Currently, Burns plays for the Goyang Sono Skygunners in South Korea’s Basketball League. In his first season, he has averaged about 10 points and four rebounds per game, showcasing his talent on an international stage.
