DHS secretary authorized purchase of 10 engineless Spirit Airlines planes

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem reportedly authorized the purchase of 10 Spirit Airlines planes that the airline did not own and lacked engines. The plan, intended to expand deportation flights and for personal travel, was paused after the discovery. ICE officials had warned against the purchase. Spirit Airlines is currently in bankruptcy protection. Democrats also questioned DHS's purchase of two Gulfstream jets for $200 million during a government shutdown.
