Denver NWSL team seeks stadium partnership with Cherry Creek
Denver's National Women’s Soccer League team is looking to partner with the Cherry Creek School District to build a new stadium and training facility in Centennial. The proposed site is located at the corner of South Potomac Street and East Fremont Avenue. The new stadium will have about 15,000 seats temporarily, with around 4,000 seats permanently. This facility will serve as the team's home while they construct a permanent stadium at Santa Fe Yards, set to open in 2028. The team plans to start playing in the league in 2026. Along with the stadium, the proposal includes two natural grass soccer fields and one artificial turf field next to the training center. There will also be a complex with at least four more artificial turf fields. The Cherry Creek School District will be able to use these fields free of charge as part of the partnership. The stadium and fields will be built on about 31 acres of undeveloped land near the Broncos’ training facility. The school district will set aside $15 million for developing the fields and necessary infrastructure. The total cost to build the stadium is estimated to be between $20 million and $25 million, which will be shared by the district and the soccer team. Additionally, the district will receive a share of any revenue from naming rights for the new facility. The club is also expected to make a $100,000 donation to the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation or another designated entity. An official announcement about the partnership is expected on Thursday.
