Demolition of former West Deer Municipal Building to start this month
Demolition of the former West Deer Municipal Building is set to start this month, following a board decision in December. Asbestos abatement will begin soon, with full demolition expected to take less than a month. The board is considering keeping part of the building to expand the adjacent West Deer Shelter for homeless dogs. Plans include creating an air-conditioned space for volunteer offices and storage, as the shelter relies on utilities from the old building. Funding for the demolition and potential renovations comes from a $320,000 state grant. This grant is part of over $2 million allocated for local infrastructure and public safety projects.
