Delhi judge denies cash storage amid investigation
A Delhi judge, Yashwant Varma, is facing controversy after cash was allegedly discovered at his residence following a fire on March 14. Justice Varma, however, denies any involvement, claiming neither he nor his family placed cash in his home. Three suspicious calls were made to the Delhi Fire Services the night of the fire. The first call, around 11:35 PM, reported the fire. A second call later suggested that everything was under control. This "stop call" could only be made by fire officials, raising questions about who made it. The Supreme Court collegium has recommended transferring Justice Varma back to his former position at the Allahabad High Court. This recommendation follows an inquiry ordered by the Chief Justice of India into the cash discovery, but the transfer is stated to be unrelated to ongoing investigations.
