Police in Suryapet have arrested 13 people, including the daughter and son-in-law of a Congress leader, for his murder. The victim, Menchu Chakraiah Goud, was killed on March 17 in Miryala village. Authorities believe the motive was to gain political control over the village. Chakraiah was a former village leader and had recently joined the Congress party after leaving the BRS. He was attacked while working in his field by a group that included family members. The main suspect, Kanakati Venkanna, is Chakraiah's son-in-law. Investigators say Venkanna felt overshadowed by his father-in-law, who had dominated village politics for over 30 years. The conspiracy to kill Chakraiah was planned during a local festival on March 13. Venkanna's wife, Sunitha, is also among those arrested. Police noted that Chakraiah had supported his son-in-law’s political career and helped elect his daughter as the village leader. Local MLA Mandula Samuel called for swift action from the chief minister to ensure justice is served in this case. The investigation continues as police gather more information about the murder and those involved.
