Cuba restores power grid after nationwide blackout and resumes scheduled outages
Cuba's power grid was restored on Thursday after a nationwide blackout left millions without electricity. Authorities confirmed that scheduled power outages will resume, with daily five-hour cuts by block or zone continuing as before. The recent blackout was the third major incident in less than two months, caused by a breakdown at a thermoelectric plant in Matanzas province. This incident overwhelmed an already strained power system. Frequent outages have affected more than half of the country during peak hours, primarily due to fuel shortages and aging infrastructure. Normal activities, including classes and work, are gradually returning to normal.
