Costco raises UK membership fees starting today
Costco has raised its membership fees in the UK, effective March 1, 2025. Individual Gold Star membership increased from £28 to £35, a 25% rise, while business memberships went up from £22 to £25, a nearly 14% increase. The changes mark the first fee hike in over eight years. Customers have expressed frustration, with some threatening to cancel their memberships, citing the increased costs as unjustified. Others, however, believe the membership still offers value, particularly for fuel and bakery products. The new fees do not include VAT, which adds 20% to the total cost. This follows similar price increases for Costco members in the US and Canada last September.
