Consumers in Islamabad pay Rs 107.12 tax on petrol

In Islamabad, consumers are currently paying Rs 107.12 in taxes and duties for every litre of petrol. This amount includes various charges and margins. High-speed diesel is also burdened with substantial costs. It has Rs 104.59 in taxes, duties, and margins per litre. The government has applied a petroleum levy of Rs 70 per litre on both petrol and diesel, marking the highest level ever imposed. Additionally, there are customs duties of Rs 15.28 on petrol and Rs 15.78 on high-speed diesel. Dealers earn a commission of Rs 8.64 per litre for both products. Oil marketing companies add a margin of Rs 7.87 per litre. Further, there is an Inland Freight Equalization Margin (IFEM) of Rs 5.33 for petrol and Rs 2.30 for diesel. The ex-refinery price for petrol is Rs 148.51 per litre, while consumers pay Rs 255.63. For high-speed diesel, the ex-refinery price is Rs 154.06, but citizens pay Rs 258.64 per litre.
