Congress questions Modi on addressing deportations during Trump meeting
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Washington for a two-day visit to meet U.S. President Donald Trump. This is their first bilateral meeting since Trump began his second term. Concerns over the U.S. "America First" trade policy and immigration are key topics. Ahead of the meeting, the Indian National Congress questioned whether Modi would address the recent deportation of Indian citizens from the U.S. They asked if he would propose sending Indian aircraft to repatriate deportees, similar to actions taken by Venezuela and Colombia. The Congress also raised questions about Modi's stance on various issues, including U.S. withdrawal from international agreements and treatment of Indian H1B visa holders. They expressed interest in Modi's discussions with billionaire Elon Musk regarding Tesla's manufacturing plans in India.
