Coles introduces AI-powered smart trolleys in Australia for enhanced shopping experience

Coles has introduced AI-powered smart trolleys in Australia, becoming the first supermarket to do so. These trolleys feature sensors and scales that allow shoppers to scan groceries directly into bags and weigh fresh produce. The trolleys include a digital screen displaying in-store specials and a map of produce aisles. They help customers track their spending in real-time and can be used with Coles or Flybuys cards for points. The smart trolleys will be trialed at Coles Richmond Traders in Melbourne starting January 2025, with a few units available now. A special express lane for smart trolley users will also be introduced.
