Cleanup begins at homeless encampment in City of Industry

Cleanup crews started removing a homeless encampment at an RV storage lot in the City of Industry on Thursday. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were present to monitor the situation but did not make any arrests during the operation. The encampment had formed in about 50 RVs, which were intended to be empty. Many of these vehicles were broken into and used for shelter by homeless individuals, leading to issues such as fires and vandalism in the area. A judge ordered the cleanup, and city officials stated they are working with property owners to address the problems. City manager Joshua Nelson emphasized that the city does not own the land, and this is a private dispute between the property owners and those trespassing.
