Claude AI launches Windows app that mirrors website in Chromium container
Claude AI has released a new app for Windows 11 and 10 that operates as an Electron wrapper, loading its website in a Chromium container. This follows a similar approach taken by the ChatGPT app. The Claude app requires over 200 MB of storage, as it includes its own version of Chromium, leading to higher resource usage. This contrasts with lighter web-based applications like Microsoft’s Copilot, which uses Edge WebView2. The Claude app is free and available for all users, but it is not listed in the Microsoft Store. It offers limited advantages over the website, primarily a keyboard shortcut for quick access.
