Chromecast 2nd Gen users facing connectivity issues globally

Many users of the 2nd generation Google Chromecast are experiencing connectivity issues due to an expired authentication certificate. This has caused devices to be labeled as "untrusted," blocking Wi-Fi access. Google, which stopped producing the Chromecast line in August 2024, has acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix. However, there is no timeline for when the issue will be resolved. The Chromecast 2nd Generation, released in 2015, is affected globally. Google had previously stated it would continue to provide updates for the device despite its discontinuation.
