China's drone reaches Mariana Trench's deepest point

China has successfully sent a tiny underwater drone named Wen to explore the Mariana Trench. This marks the first time a Chinese marine drone has reached the deepest part of the world's oceans, which is about 10.7 kilometers deep. Researchers from Beijing's Beihang University developed this innovative drone. Wen features smart metal drives that allow it to navigate the extreme water pressure. The drone can swim, glide, and crawl in depths where human divers cannot go. The drone was built using shape memory alloys, helping it withstand high pressure and perform various underwater tasks. After completing its mission, the drone was recovered unharmed, according to Professor Wen Li, the project's lead researcher. The Mariana Trench, also known as the Mariana Abyss, is the deepest known oceanic trench. It stretches around 2,540 kilometers in length and averages 69 kilometers in width. Its remarkable depth is a testament to the Earth's mysteries waiting to be explored.
