China Town Restaurant to close after 50 years in downtown Colorado Springs

China Town Restaurant, a popular Chinese eatery in downtown Colorado Springs, will close at the end of December 2024. Owner Eva Zhang has run the restaurant for 24 years, and it has been in operation for over 50 years. Zhang cited several reasons for the closure, including a near doubling of rent, challenges in hiring staff, and rising food costs. She noted that prices for ingredients have significantly increased, impacting her profit margins. Zhang has not announced plans to reopen the restaurant elsewhere but is considering a smaller venture in the future. She plans to take a short break after the closure.
