China reintroduces multiple-entry visas for Shenzhen residents traveling to Hong Kong

reuters.com November 29, 2024, 06:01 AM UTC

China will allow Shenzhen residents to obtain multiple-entry visas to Hong Kong starting December 1. Each visa permits stays of up to seven days and is valid for one year. This policy restores a system that was in place until 2015. Previously, Shenzhen residents could only visit Hong Kong once a week due to stricter regulations aimed at controlling cross-border trade. The change is expected to support Hong Kong's tourism and retail sectors. Additionally, Zhuhai residents will be allowed to enter Macao once a week for trips of up to seven days, effective January 1. This is an increase from the previous limit of once every two months.
