China imposes 100% tariffs on Canadian agricultural products
China will impose tariffs of up to 100% on Canadian canola, pork, and other foods starting March 20. This action is a response to Canada's tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, steel, and aluminum, which began last year. The tariffs serve as a warning to Canada and Mexico against cooperating with the U.S. on trade issues. China aims to discourage Canada from increasing tariffs on Chinese goods under pressure from the U.S. China's State Council stated that the tariffs are a countermeasure to Canada's actions. The Canadian government has not yet commented on the new tariffs.
