Chattanooga man arrested for Georgia murder of William Jones

A 41-year-old man from Chattanooga has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Georgia. Nicholas Cheaton was taken into custody on Friday after being linked to the death of 39-year-old William Oliver Jones from Chickamauga. The investigation began on March 14 when authorities found Jones dead at his home on West Highway 136. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the arrest and stated that they worked alongside local and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the process. Cheaton is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Georgia. Meanwhile, Jones' body is undergoing an autopsy at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, but the results are not yet available.
