Chatham man arrested for vandalizing Tesla truck

A man from Chatham has been arrested for vandalizing a Tesla truck. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon outside a retail store on St. Clair Street. Police received a report of a man damaging the vehicle. Officers arrived quickly but the suspect had already left. However, police found the 27-year-old man nearby at the intersection of St. Clair Street and McNaughton Avenue. He was accused of keying the truck and yelling racial slurs at the owner. During his arrest, the man spat at a police officer. He now faces charges of mischief over $5,000 and assaulting a peace officer. He has been released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
