Charlize Theron to support HIV awareness by hosting young activist on Instagram for World AIDS Day
On World AIDS Day, December 1, young South African activist Ibanomonde Ngema will take over Charlize Theron's Instagram account to raise awareness about HIV. Ngema, who has lived with HIV since birth, aims to share the experiences of young people with the virus. Theron, a UN Messenger of Peace, has long advocated for addressing inequalities that contribute to HIV infections among women and girls. She emphasized the need to eliminate stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV. This announcement follows a UNAIDS report highlighting that women and girls made up 62 percent of new HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa last year. The initiative seeks to shed light on the challenges faced by this demographic.
