Central University of Kerala students protest stale hostel food
Students at the Central University of Kerala protested on March 24, claiming they were served stale food at their boys' hostel. The protest started at around 9:45 PM. Students carried pots and containers from the kitchen to demonstrate first on campus and later gathered at the main gate. They alleged that food prepared earlier in the day was reheated and served at night, making it inedible. Many hostel residents joined the protest, expressing their frustration with the quality of the meals. Since it was late, no university officials were available on campus to address their concerns. The students conducted a sit-in at the main gate along the national highway. The hostel committee, which is made up of students, is responsible for managing food supplies. However, residents accused the cooking staff of serving old food. There have been previous complaints regarding the hostel's food quality. The Students' Federation of India (SFI) unit declared that they would escalate their protests if no action is taken by the authorities.
