Cebu City will construct a water retention pond in the upland area of Nasipit, Barangay Talamban, to reduce flooding in lowland villages. Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia announced the initiative on Tuesday. The city has hired Danilo Jaque as a consultant for flood control and stormwater management. Jaque will conduct a feasibility study for the pond, which aims to mitigate severe flooding during heavy rains. Garcia has also sought assistance from the national government for the project. The cost of the water retention pond has not yet been determined.
