Catholic Church unveils anime-inspired mascot Luce ahead of 2025 Jubilee Year
The Catholic Church has introduced a new anime-inspired mascot named Luce as part of its preparations for the Jubilee Year in 2025. Luce, designed by Italian artist Simone Legno, represents a "pilgrim" with traditional attire and symbolizes hope. Luce will make her official debut at the Lucca Comics and Games event in Italy, marking the Vatican's first participation in a comic convention. This initiative aims to engage youth through pop culture and gaming. Earlier this year, the Church canonized Carlo Acutis, the first known "gamer" saint, highlighting its efforts to connect with younger generations. Acutis is recognized for his technological skills and documentation of miracles.
