Catholic Church introduces anime mascot Luce ahead of 2025 Jubilee celebrations

The Catholic Church has introduced an anime-inspired mascot named Luce as part of its preparations for the 2025 Jubilee year. Designed by tokidoki's Simone Legno, Luce represents a pilgrim and aims to connect with young people through pop culture. Luce will make her debut at the Lucca Comics and Games convention in Italy, marking the Vatican's first participation in a comic convention. This initiative reflects the Church's efforts to engage youth through gaming and popular culture. Earlier this year, the Church canonized Carlo Acutis, the first "gamer" saint, who was known for his technology skills and love for video games. Acutis is expected to be highlighted during the upcoming Jubilee celebrations.
