Cat reunited with owner after Manhattan carjacking
A woman in Manhattan was rear-ended and then carjacked on Sunday night. Her luxury Maserati was stolen quickly, but her main concern was for her cat, Eilee, who was inside the car. Ronette Riley described her Maserati as her dream car. "I worked really hard my whole life," she said. The incident happened around 11 p.m. when a couple in a black Mercedes hit her car. They were polite and offered excuses, she noted. While she was distracted, someone jumped into her Maserati and drove off with Eilee. The police arrived quickly and were able to track the stolen vehicle. They managed to corner the suspects, who crashed the car. An 18-year-old and a 20-year-old were arrested, but Eilee was still missing. Riley's assistant, Paige Lundgren, helped with the search by posting missing flyers online and contacting animal rescue centers. Later that day, they found Eilee on Facebook. She was spotted at the Pa'Picar restaurant, a few miles away. The restaurant's owner, Manuel Ortega, noticed that Eilee was wearing a striped t-shirt, which made it clear she wasn’t abandoned. He shared the news on social media to find Eilee's owner. Despite the loss of her car, Riley was relieved to be reunited with her beloved cat. She expressed her gratitude for Eilee's safe return.
