BYD's massive factory in China spans 32,000 acres
Drone footage has shown the immense size of BYD's new electric vehicle mega factory in Zhengzhou, China. This factory is still being built and will cover 32,000 acres, which is larger than the city of San Francisco. It is also more than ten times the size of Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada. The video highlights a complex that includes production facilities, worker housing, and recreation areas like a football pitch and tennis courts. The design of the factory aims to create a community for its workers. Currently, about 60,000 people are employed at BYD. The company is actively looking to hire another 20,000 workers by the end of March 2025. To attract new employees, BYD has set up a recruitment site with amenities like luggage storage. Successful candidates can quickly sign contracts and start working, with benefits that include free housing and cheap meals.
