Burst water main causes sinkhole on Auckland road
A burst water main has caused a large sinkhole to open up on Lancaster Rd in Beach Haven, Auckland. The road is currently closed while repairs are being made. Watercare has turned off the water supply for about 25 properties in the area. Repairs are expected to continue until at least 3:30 p.m. Residents in properties numbered 81 to 117 are experiencing reduced water pressure. The problem began this morning when locals noticed a "big hole" in the road and reported it to Watercare around 9 a.m. North Shore councillor Richard Hills shared updates on social media, informing the public about the road closure and water supply issues. A detour has been established via Melba St to help with traffic.
