Bubba Chandler named top prospect for Pittsburgh Pirates heading into 2025 season
Bubba Chandler is now the top prospect for the Pittsburgh Pirates heading into the 2025 season, according to Baseball America. The 22-year-old right-handed pitcher had a strong season, posting a 3.08 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 119 2/3 innings. Chandler moved up one spot in the rankings after the graduation of last year's top prospect, Paul Skenes. He is expected to compete for a spot in the major league rotation, potentially joining Skenes and Jared Jones. Konnor Griffin, an 18-year-old shortstop, is the second-ranked prospect in the Pirates' system. The new top-10 list also includes right-handers Thomas Harrington and Braxton Ashcraft, along with second baseman Termarr Johnson.
