Britain's Treasury chief begins visit to China to strengthen economic ties

Reeves will meet with key Chinese officials, including Vice Premier He Lifeng, and plans to revive the suspended China-U.K. Economic and Financial Dialogue. This dialogue has been on hold since 2019 due to various tensions, including spying allegations and issues in Hong Kong. The delegation includes leaders from major British financial institutions. Reeves will also address concerns about China's support for Russia in the Ukraine war and human rights issues in Hong Kong.
