Boston Mayor Wu to appear on 'The Daily Show.'
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu will appear on “The Daily Show” Tuesday night. This event follows her State of the City Address last week, where she discussed the city’s progress and criticized the Trump administration. In her address, Wu described Boston as a family. She emphasized the city’s resilient history and how it stands together. Wu expressed strong support for Boston's residents, declaring, “We will defend the people we love with all that we’ve got.” Wu's appearance comes shortly after Tom Homan, a former official in Trump’s administration, claimed that the federal immigration agency made significant arrests in Boston. At least 370 people were reportedly taken into custody recently. Homan has called out both Wu and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey on this issue. Wu has previously criticized Homan’s statements and defended her city during a congressional testimony. A spokesperson for her administration urged ICE to be more transparent about the arrests, highlighting Boston’s safety record. In addition to Wu, Governor Healey has also made media appearances recently, continuing to voice her opposition to Trump. Wu is currently seeking reelection for a second term, facing competition from philanthropist Josh Kraft. “The Daily Show” will broadcast her interview on Comedy Central.
