Blue Ghost to attempt lunar landing today at 3:34 AM
Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost is set to attempt a landing on the Moon's unexplored surface today at 3:34 am ET. This mission is part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, aiming to deliver scientific instruments to the Moon. If successful, Blue Ghost will be the second private lander to reach the Moon, following a commercial landing last year. The lander carries 10 NASA science instruments, including tools to study the Moon's interior and capture images of Earth. Blue Ghost was launched on January 15 and has already transmitted images of the Moon. It is designed to operate for 14 Earth days and will document significant lunar events, including a total eclipse on March 14.
