Blue Ghost lunar lander successfully lands on Moon
Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander has successfully landed on the Moon, marking a significant achievement as it becomes the second private company to do so. The lander touched down in Mare Crisium and quickly captured its first image. Blue Ghost is part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative and carries 10 experiments. It will operate for a full lunar day, collecting data on surface conditions and space weather, including high-definition images of a total lunar eclipse on March 14. The mission faced delays and cost increases, rising from an initial $93 million to $101 million due to pandemic-related issues. Blue Ghost features advanced navigation and shock-absorbing technology, allowing it to land safely and withstand extreme lunar temperatures.
