BJP MPs oppose Karnataka's Muslim reservation policy
BJP members in the Lok Sabha are opposing a new 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts introduced by the Karnataka government. They believe this is unconstitutional. The BJP is asking the central government to create a law to eliminate these religion-based reservations. During a session in the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticized the Karnataka government's decision. He argued that this move is part of a pattern by Congress to create quotas for Muslims in jobs and education, which he claims could lead to division in society. Another BJP MP, Tejasvi Surya, accused the Karnataka government of promoting conversions to Islam through this reservation. The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Meghwal, assured the BJP MPs that he would relay their request for a new law to the relevant minister.
