Bihar student commits suicide while preparing for NEET

In Kota, Rajasthan, a 17-year-old student named Harshraj Shankar from Nalanda, Bihar, took his own life. He had been preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam for a year. After returning home happily for Holi, he returned to Kota only to face this tragic event. The incident has left his family and village in deep shock. They expressed disbelief over Harshraj's death, noting that he was doing well in his studies and had high hopes from the family. His family believes that excessive pressure from coaching institutes contributes to mental stress among students. On March 24, when Harshraj did not open his room door, hostel staff alerted the police. Upon breaking in, they found him hanging. The police handled the body with care and conducted a post-mortem before returning it to his family for burial. The village is mourning, raising concerns about the mental health of students in coaching centers.
