Bihar government abolishes 75% attendance requirement for benefits
The Bihar government has eliminated the 75% attendance rule for students to benefit from school schemes. Now, all students in government schools can receive support for uniforms and bicycles, regardless of their attendance records. This change was announced by Education Minister Sunil Kumar. To improve education, the government is investing in school facilities. In the next financial year, they plan to equip 29,000 schools with computers and build new Kendriya Vidyalayas in 12 locations. The education budget has significantly increased from Rs 4,400 crore in 2005 to over Rs 60,000 crore today. The government is also focusing on inclusive education by hiring special teachers for students with disabilities. Women's representation in teaching has risen to 44%. Additionally, Bihar's literacy rate has improved significantly, reaching 80% overall and 74% for females. New funding guidelines will ensure that student benefits for uniforms are directly deposited into their bank accounts by April 1. Benefits vary by grade level, offering financial support to both girls and boys from different classes for uniforms and bicycles.
