Big Lots plans to close all 12 stores in Western New York following bankruptcy filing
Big Lots is planning to close all 12 of its stores in Western New York. The company has listed these locations for lease sale, including stores in Niagara Falls and Lockport, with leases running until 2030. The closures follow Big Lots' bankruptcy filing in September 2023, which was attributed to inflation and reduced consumer spending. The company was recently acquired by Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, which is facilitating the sale of its locations. Big Lots had previously intended to sell its assets to Nexus Capital Management, but that deal fell through. Now, it is conducting going-out-of-business sales at its 869 U.S. stores.
