Baton Rouge man arrested in Mississippi for murder charges
A man from Baton Rouge is arrested in Mississippi after being suspected of killing his stepfather. Ian Anthony Seghers, 34, was caught hiding in a shed in Ocean Springs on Saturday. His brother tipped off the police about his location. Seghers was initially wanted for using a vehicle without permission. However, Baton Rouge police have indicated he may now face second-degree murder charges related to the disappearance of his stepfather, Walter "Keith" Rowland. He is currently in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center and could be transferred back to Baton Rouge soon. Law enforcement began searching for Rowland after his sister reported that he had missed their scheduled meeting. Officers discovered that both Rowland and his work van were missing from his property. They later confirmed that Rowland's cellphone had not been used since March 1. On March 10, the van was spotted in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. A friend of both Seghers and Rowland reported Seghers' unusual behavior. He had asked to borrow a shovel, claiming he needed it to bury his dog. On Friday, Seghers' brother contacted police after receiving unsettling messages from him. Police set up surveillance and confirmed Seghers was at a friend's house. They searched the area but initially found no sign of him. The following morning, Seghers contacted his friend, revealing he was hiding in the woods. Shortly after, police found him trying to hide in the shed. Meanwhile, his brother has started a GoFundMe campaign to help search for Rowland, who remains missing.
