Baltimore schools and teachers union finalize two-year pay agreement
The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners has approved a new two-year agreement with the Baltimore Teachers Union, which includes a 3% salary increase each year and a new career ladder for teachers. The agreement also sets a minimum starting salary of over $60,000 and offers higher pay for teachers with master’s degrees. It aims to enhance teacher compensation and provide opportunities for career advancement without leaving the classroom. This deal aligns with Maryland's public school reform efforts, which require a compliant teacher career ladder to avoid funding cuts. The previous career ladder expired in October.
