Baltimore County considers school boundary changes in Catonsville
The Baltimore County School Board is considering boundary changes for schools in the Catonsville area. Four elementary and middle schools could be affected. The board will vote on the proposals in May. During a meeting Tuesday night, officials presented two boundary change recommendations. One change focuses on the Holly Manor community. It would affect Hillcrest and Westchester Elementary Schools. The change would bring six properties, currently home to five students, into Westchester Elementary’s area. A public hearing for this change is set for April 9 at Westchester Elementary School. The school board will vote on this proposal on May 6. The second recommendation involves Arbutus/Catonsville Middle School. This change would impact 21 students in the Patapsco Woods/Forest Glen and Melvin Avenue/Winters Lane neighborhoods. A recent survey showed that nearly 75% of respondents supported this change. A public hearing for this proposal will take place on April 2 at Catonsville High School. The board is also scheduled to vote on this next month.
