Australia and New Zealand express concern over Chinese warships in Tasman Sea

Three Chinese navy vessels, including a warship, are sailing in the Tasman Sea, raising concerns in Australia and New Zealand. They are legally operating within Australia’s exclusive economic zone but are unusually far south on an undeclared mission. Australian officials are monitoring the ships, which were first detected off the northeast coast last week. They are now about 150 nautical miles from Sydney, outside territorial waters but within the exclusive economic zone. China's military has not commented on the situation, and the Chinese Embassy in Australia has not responded to inquiries.
