Assistant public prosecutor arrested for bribery in Mangaluru

Mangaluru police arrested an assistant public prosecutor (APP) named Ganapati Nayak for taking a bribe of Rs 2,000. The arrest occurred on Wednesday during an operation by Lokayukta police. The case began when a complainant’s vehicle was seized for allegedly transporting sand illegally. The complainant, holding a general power of attorney, sought to release the vehicle, leading to the bribe demand from Nayak. Instead of paying, the complainant reported Nayak to the Lokayukta police. The assistant public prosecutor was caught in the act, and authorities are now investigating the situation further.
