Assam headmistress' suicide note names two harassers
A headmistress in Assam was found dead by apparent suicide on Sunday, having accused two individuals of mental harassment in a suicide note. Police have apprehended a state education official and a school teacher based on the note's contents. The 56-year-old headmistress, Maya Upadhyaya, was found hanging at her home in Biswanath district. The suicide note blamed Milon Das and Brajen Kumar Das. Authorities have seized evidence and initiated an investigation, including a post-mortem examination. The incident follows alleged departmental pressure on Upadhyaya, including accusations of mismanagement. Her husband stated she had been depressed and faced insults.
