Arizona Rep. Raúl Grijalva dies at 77 from cancer
Democratic U.S. Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva of Arizona died at 77 from complications related to cancer treatments. He served 12 terms in Congress and was known for his work on environmental protection. Grijalva chaired the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee and was the leading Democrat on the committee until earlier this year. He had been absent from Congress while undergoing treatment. His office highlighted his commitment to protecting the Grand Canyon and improving the Affordable Care Act. Grijalva's passing follows the recent death of another Democratic House member, Rep. Sylvester Turner of Texas.
