Renowned architect Alexander Suponitsky was fatally shot in a St. Petersburg building entrance while with his young daughter. The suspected assailant died by suicide shortly after. The gunman, identified as businessman Konstantin Kozyrev, reportedly forced Suponitsky and his daughter to kneel before shooting the architect. Kozyrev then set a fire in an apartment before taking his own life. Kozyrev, who had prior fraud charges, may have recently returned from the front lines. Suponitsky, 70, was known for designing the Gorkovskaya metro station.
