Apple's HomeView ads reveal why its tabletop robot is needed

macitynet.it (Italian) —

Apple's new HomeView ads inadvertently highlight a key limitation: users must manually turn the device to face them. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman notes this paradox, as the device recognizes people but cannot rotate toward them. The solution is already in development at Apple: a robotic version with a 9-inch screen that detects who is speaking and automatically turns toward them. Codenamed J595, it resembles an iPad on a motorized arm, similar to a Pixar lamp. The robot, expected in 2027 or 2028, will rotate 360 degrees and track users during FaceTime calls. It will sit above HomeView in the lineup, possibly named HomeView Max, Ultra, or 360, and may not launch in Europe due to Siri AI restrictions.
