Apple Watch falls to second place in global smartwatch shipments as Huawei leads in 2024
Apple Watch has fallen to second place in global smartwatch shipments, overtaken by Huawei, according to IDC. Huawei shipped 23.6 million devices in the first nine months of 2024, while Apple shipped 22.5 million. Apple's market share decreased to 16.2%, down from previous years, with a year-over-year growth rate of minus 12.8%. Xiaomi, Samsung, and BBK follow in the rankings with 20.5 million, 11.5 million, and 7.8 million shipments, respectively. Huawei's rise is attributed to new products like the GT5 and Watch D2, which have boosted its shipment volume. Apple faces challenges with its recent models, which have seen limited innovation.
