Apple plans HomeView with robotic arm for 2027 release
Apple is reportedly developing a next-generation HomeView device featuring a larger display and a motorized robotic arm, with a potential release as soon as 2027. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the device, codenamed J595, will include a 9-inch screen and an arm capable of spinning 360 degrees, automatically turning to face users via voice recognition. This model is positioned as a premium offering, not a direct successor, and may launch under a new name or with a "Max" or "Ultra" suffix. The robotic arm concept aligns with earlier reports from 2024, following the Apple Car project's cancellation, which suggested home robotics would repurpose that technology. Originally expected in 2026 or 2027 at around $1,000, the device's development also reflects Apple's 2025 demonstration of expressive robot movement, inspired by Pixar's Luxo Jr. lamp.
