Apple plans foldable iPhone release in 2026
Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026. This news comes from a report by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg. The new device will likely have a design similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series. The foldable iPhone will feature technology from the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. It is predicted to be very slim, about 5.5mm thick, not including the camera. Gurman says the foldable model will have a book-style design, unlike the clamshell format used by some competitors. The starting price for the foldable iPhone is estimated to be around $2,300 in the United States. Apple plans to produce a limited number of units due to this high price. Features of the foldable iPhone are expected to include a liquid metal hinge, a 7.8-inch inner display, and a 5.5-inch cover display. It may come with a side-mounted Touch ID sensor and a dual rear camera system. When folded, the device will measure 9.2mm thick and 4.6mm when unfolded, with an aluminum alloy frame. The battery capacity is expected to be around 5,000mAh.
